Polar Museum Foundation was established in 1997 by Dr Rebecca Lee, the first Chinese woman having traveled to both poles and Mount Everest.
As one of Hong Kong's most accomplished explorers and environmentalists, Dr Lee has been invited by numerous secondary schools and educational institutions to give lectures to more than 300,000 Hong Kong students. On the verge of retirement, her final goal is to set up a polar museum in Hong Kong – one that helps our next generation betterunderstand this world and the role of the three poles in the context of environmental protection.
The foundation is recently pulling together to set up a resource and education centre to raise awareness of the role the three poles play in assessing climate change and man's impact on the environment, and to promote interest in environmental science and support polar scientific research.
Mighty Rovers 2009 will provide an initiating fund for Polar Museum Foundation to build its permanent resource and education centre and develop its community programmes.
Care Action
